Yes, show releases have been a bit inconsistent as of late. I apologize. Everyone has been busy and coordinating a recording time has been a pain. Plus I quit smoking, so I am being a whiny, reclusive biotch. Thanks to everyone who has emailed me showing concern, but I am still alive. I promise we’ll get another episode up soon.

Well, I finally got off my lazy ass and did it… sort of. I can’t get Zazzle to integrate quite the way I want it to, but screw it, you’re smart enough to figure it out on your own I’m sure. I added a Swag! link at the top so you can always get to the store and buy some AN goodies. I added in some other designs that aren’t quite as overt as a giant ATHEIST NEWS logo on your chest and will be adding more in the future I expect.

But I don’t want to leave up a notice that says that there is no show this week when there is a show this week.

Hi.

I had the news all lined up and a recording time set with Richard and everything… but then I made the foolish mistake of rebooting my ailing computer. Well, trying to reboot it, I should say because while it will POST beep and show the BIOS splash screen, that’s all it will do. No user input is accepted, it hangs the instant it shows the ASUS logo.

I tried a bunch of things to revive it, but I fear my motherboard has motherboarded for the last time. I am trying to find an identical motherboard to limit the chances that I’ll have to reinstall Windows, but it’s a two-year-old piece of hardware, so I can’t find it locally and trying to find things on the internet with my Blackberry is like trying to bring in the wheat harvest with a bucket and a butter knife.

So, I am trying to sort out my finances to see if we can afford it this week and if so, I hope to borrow someones computer to order it have a new one by next week. Sorry about the show, guys; that’s a whole month now with no new stuff and I feel pretty bad about it. I was hoping I’d have something figured out by the time the show was supposed to go up, but it’s Wednesday night and I just don’t see it happening.

I’ll keep you guys posted. Don’t forget to check out Chariots next week, it’s going to be a good one! Eli and Lamar have to find all the news this week, which I am sure has them thrilled as hell.

I know that I said that we’d release the name of the Atheist News blog contest winner on the 30th, but with the trip to California for the AAI convention, we’re going to have to push back announcing the winner until probably the 11th of October. I am going to be in California until the 8th and won’t have much time to collaborate with the blog posse on picking a winner until after I get back.

But…!

If we can do it sooner, we will!

I’m really sorry for the wait guys, but we got a lot of good submissions and we want to make sure that we do this right.

The Atheist News site is now looking for full time bloggers!

This is the home of the Atheist News podcast, but that’s not all it is. It has always been my intention to turn this sucker into a full blown atheist news blogging site and the time has finally come to cut the ribbon. As of now, I have three gentlemen who will be blogging here on current events topics of interest to the more secular minded among us (formal introductions to follow,) but three is not enough. Over the next few months, I’ll be adding more writers to the staff and you could be one of them!

So here’s the skinny: we’re holding something of an essay contest to help us pick who our next staff member will be. In order to enter, you need only write a single news blog post on the subject of your choice (details below) and submit it to us. We will read through all of the submissions and pick a winner on September 30th.

The winner of the contest will have their own news blog on the Atheist News website! They will undoubtedly be turned into overnight celebrities and be buried in fame and groupies nigh instantaneously.

The deadline for submissions is September 26th, so get to writing!

Pick any story published within the last year that you think will interest our atheist readership and write an article about it in 500 words or less.

You can include links to multiple articles and pictures if you’d like, but please; no posts based on videos.

Write as you would write for the site.

The post can be objective or humorous or an opinion piece, but it should remain consistent in tone through-out.

If you are going to quote an article, please cite your sources.

Sign the article using the name that you will be posting under on the site.

Applicant requirements (or, what happens when you win)

• Contestants must be over 18 years of age to apply and must be willing to write an average of 5 posts per week.

I was half asleep last night and something happened while I was uploading Episode 010 that screwed it up. I have no idea what that thing was, but I am re-uploading the show now and hopefully that will fix it.

To everyone who downloaded the effed up version, I am really sorry. I hate it when people waste my time and I am embarrassed that I wasted yours.

I was a noob and I named my RSS feed and the path to my blogposts for the podcast the same thing. So, now the blogposts for the podcast will go in /podcasts and the RSS feed will stay /podcast.

And hey, if that didn’t make any sense, don’t worry about it. Obviously it didn’t make much sense to me either, else I wouldn’t have mucked it up in the first place.

Long story short, you may now read the full post and even stream the show when you click on the title to the article containing each podcast.

I believe that as soon as iTunes updates, you fine folks will be ready to download the podcast, and in fact, through a reader, I don’t think there is any problem. And, in fact, I can post the links to the podcast right here… but for some reason, when the article containing the mp3 is expanded, it doesn’t exist somehow. So if you try to click the title of the podcast, it will take you to an error page. I’ll get around to fix it soon.

So… now you know not to be alarmed.

After several days of work, the Atheist News site is up and running. A big thanks to everyone who helped out!

The first podcast should be released early next week. Keep your fingers crossed, I am still trying to get my hands on a couple of pieces of equipment. I remain hopeful. I can’t say who my guest host is going to be this week because I have to confirm availability, but–worst case scenario–I’ll have Lamar or Eli on. I know, I know… sometimes we have to slum.
