Brother Richard is doing a whirl-wind tour of California this week, but worry not, my co-host from the Chariots of Iron podcast, and good friend Lamar has dropped in to hang out and do the show with me. This week we cover (once again) the Texas school board, who (once again) is up to lame, pro-Christian, tax wasting. We talk about a serious hot-button topic (panties) that may cause Saudi Arabia (panties) to implode. The trial (mis-trial) of the Oregon “faith healing” couple is over with, we share our feelings about what went down (mis-trial.) A church comes up with a really brilliant (stupid) idea involving a pen and a (stupid) bible. A (wingnut) Rep from Ohio loves him some (wingnut) daddies. Iran (evil) has raised the bar on evil (evil,) and villagers in India (naked) have come up an ingenious way to put (naked) grandma to work. Naked.
Lord Scarab drew me a picture, damn I look handsome:

And I am rocking some new theme music this week, courtesy of my good friend DJ Tim Blade. If you love it, hit him up on twitter where he will release new songs periodically:

I could use some Facebook fans… apparently unless you have at least 100 fans you can’t get a fucking short username for the page.
Go forth, my legions, and crush him with fandom! mwahah!
I think the nekkid girls in the fields is intended as some form of sympathetic magic. Life issues forth from females therefore having young fertile ones working the fields would perhaps act as a fertility enhancement aid to propitiate the gods of life.
I did not locate the history of the practice in India however there were similar fertility rites (http://www.inteldaily.com/?c=136&a=1767) which may be connected to this somehow. Can anyone enlighten me specifically in furtherance of the podcast on this Indian practice?
Great podcast, guys.
Y’know, here in Brazil, where we have a huge number of evangelicals, the whole “letting the child die because it’s against our religion to take them to a hospital” happens on a somewhat frequent basis. Usually, it involves blood transfusions or organ transplants, where they’ll give some bs about it being against god or whatever. Curiously, this doesn’t happen much (if at all) on catholic households, which are still the majority in the country.
About the raping and killing of virgins in Iran - Horrifying and disgusting, but I can’t help but think that, if the american “christian taliban” had their way, things would be pretty similar in there. Also, I strongly recommend reading the graphic novel “Persepolis”, by iranian cartoonist Marjani Satrapi, where she gives a really strong account of how things in Iran got to be the way they are today.
Best to you guys,
J.
Damn! Now I’m jealous Lord Scarab. I need a cool picture too.
