Episode 023: Haiti, Haiti, Haiti HEY!

Posted by moJoe On January - 27 - 2010

This is pretty-much the “Haiti Show.” When disaster strikes, so–apparently–do the disingenuous and the mentally unsound.
We talk a lot about the atheist “identity” and toss around some ideas and opinions about the place where charity and the nebulous identity of atheism meet. Not that we actually reach any conclusions, mind you.

And hey, I promised on this show that I’d paste in a link to the official form for complaining to the IRS about the abuse of tax exempt status. Well, here it is!

Atheist News this week: You can’t eat bibles, Pat Robertson drools on himself incoherently, Stayin’ Alive: Scientology style, Canada knows how to deal with naughty churches, Veil or Vote and finally, someone notices that electrostatic magnetic ion attraction technology doesn’t work.

If you want to give money to help Haiti, you could do worse than checking out what Richard Dawkins has set up:

Sarah Palin’s sin? Easy, see 1 Tim 2:12.

  3. Chad says:

If a christian group gives charity, along with proselytizing elements like a bible, how is that different then a charity conducted in the ‘name’ of atheism?

I think a better response to the person who wrote the email is to simply point out that secular groups ( who neither identify as secular nor atheist ) give charity without the expectation of recognizing anyone religious/political/cultural group in name/action/message.

im almost always surfing about the net the majority of the working day which means that I have the inclination to browse quite a lot, which isn’t usually a beneficial thing as the majority of the pages I view are constructed of unnecessary nonsense copied from similar websites a million times, on the other hand I have to give you credit this page is in fact half decent and even provides a lot of unique information, therefore many thanks for helping to stop the trend of simply just duplicating other peoples’ websites, if you ever want to have fun with playing a couple of hands of myspace poker together with me just send me a message - you have my email :)
